The NBA player Jimmy Butler tried his hand at tennis on Wednesday night, playing with Frances Tiafoe, Carlos Alcaraz, and Sebastián Yatra in a charity match that raised $320,000 for humanitarian aid in Ukraine while dressing exactly like a member of the ball crew at the U.S. Open.

Invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022 sparked a protracted conflict there.

Butler, who coached the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals last year before falling to the Denver Nuggets, is a seasoned tennis player and pals with Coco Gauff, who finished second in the 2022 French Open.

He competed in doubles alongside Tiafoe, a semifinalist at the 2017 U.S. Open, against Alcaraz and Grammy Award winner Yatra, the reigning champion.

At Stars of the Open in Louis Armstrong Stadium, John McEnroe, Gabriela Sabatini, Jessica Pegula, Matteo Berrettini, Elena Svitolina, Gael Monfils, Chris Eubanks, and Jennifer Brady all participated in enjoyable exhibition matches.
